Hey everyone, we are Whimsical Violence, a UW-Stout Game Design team working on our senior capstone project titled Bugby. “What is Bugby?” you ask well, I’m glad you did. Bugby is a Rugby-inspired 3v3 team sport invented by Goblins in order to settle their disputes. The objective of the game is to score as many goals as possible!
The Player
Meet “The Ladybugs!”, one of the playable teams available within Bugby. Players will play as goblins fighting it out over the ball. Players can Run, Sprint, Jump, Pass, and Tackle each other in order to score for their tribes.
The Ball
This cute fellow over here is Rolland Polland the star of the show! Players will need to take him and carry him though the goal in order to score. While he may be looking like he is having the time of his life rolling around the field, he most certainly is not. Make sure you keep an eye on him, as if he is left alone, he might just try to run away from the game!
The Arena
The battle grounds for Bugby take place deep in the magical forest. There are five goals positioned around the map and a variety of ways to get to each one. The player scores by picking up the bug ball and carrying it into the goal! There is a catch, though only one goal is activated at a time! Both teams are fighting over the ball as well as the goal. Tackling a player will knock both players down and if one of them is holding the ball the ball will go flying! When a player scores the scoring player and ball will be shot out of the goal and a new goal will active. The clock never stops, and the team with the most points at the end of five minutes wins!
This is just a quick overview of our game Bugby, stick around for more posts going into further details. A big thank you from all of us at Whimsical Violence and don’t forget to go goblin mode once in a while!
